Since I need drop down menus, I want to re-do my header without having the hacks hard coded into the template, but I need a copy of the original
template, which.. I don't have. Is there anywhere I can get it?

Take all the link code starting with the first <a href and ending with the last </a> and replace with $linkdisplay. This should re-enable the
header links hack that I installed. Before doing that (and be sure to keep a copy of your header template) I would write down the links you now have
in the header (either the lang variable or text name of the link (ie Who's Online), the file name (ie whosonline.php) and the image file name
(optional as you can turn images off in the header link admin panel). Then go into the header link manager and add in the links that are missing from
there. Now your header links should be restored.
