[In Progress] Warning hack

The warning hack on my board isn't working properly, a warning's supposed to last 3 days MAX but on my board they last for a week and when I delete them they just come back =

Apparently you are using a hack that's not been updated for 1.9.8. I will not provide support to sites that use out-of-version hacks on it. You will either need to obtain support from the main xmb site, or uninstall the hack and wait for the proper version of it to be updated and released.

Yeah, well, I don't have that hack yet. I am not connected with the main xmb site in any way, shape or form other than being a member. I no longer get my hacks from them since I have the majority of the hacks and prefer to either do the upgrades myself and with the assistance of Guldan or John Briggs. I'll take a look at it and see if I can duplicate your issue.

Okay, I've looked at the warning hack from the xmb site and I'm not going to mess with it as it is quite sloppily put together. I have taken my 1.9.5 copy of it and have updated it to 1.9.8 and have installed it to my test board. I'll know in about 24 hours whether it's deleting warnings when it should be. So far everything else about it is working 100%. I'll post back here around this time tomorrow evening with an update on this.

You'd find that the mod is RC2, which means it's really not how I'd like it to be right now. You'll also find that the 130 revision of warnings.php is actually rather clean.

Just adding my 2 cents on the matter.
Really, I would've much prefered REWRITING the mod as I really don't understand the need for some features within it. Will likely do that with one of the next releases hack packs.

My point, Michael, was the actual display of the text in the files. It's rather sloppy and hurt my eyes with all the improperly indented lines. It's just me, but I like code that's laid out neatly and uniform so that it matches with the layout of the file it's being put into.

I, too, have it on the list to rewrite whenever I can get Guldan on it. I've got several that I want rewritten. But his availability these days is pretty minimal. So I can see hack development/updating being a long and slow process.

And, as a side note, I think 1.9.8 will be the end of the line for me. I don't like the idea of xmb going to a social networking format. I just that as more support issues that I don't care to deal with. Plus I'm not a fan of such things either.

Fair dos Jim, I completely understand your situation.

Still, you gotta admit the code itself is sloppy too.

One of the things I took note on was the fact that the hack is terrible with queries, it's just hideous. I tried to trim some of them back, did knock out one or two, but nowhere near where I'd have liked it to have been.

Oh yeah the code is a mess, too. But my goal is to at least get it functional and not worry about some of this until a rewrite is underway. There's several hack, some written by FreeWill46, that just need to be thrown away and written anew. But with a lack of developers for hacks and hack updates it's going to be a long road to go down.
