I am switching servers and I want to know how I can save my boards (without losing anything) and then transfer them back to my domain once I'm on the
new server.
I tried that form...but it talks about upgrading and asks me for my old FTP information and my new FTP information, which I haven't gotten yet
because I want to back-up everything before I order...and yeah.
To make things short...is that the form I use so you guys back it all up FOR me and then set it up again FOR me? Sorry for being a pain. =

You ask for the OLD FTP information and the NEW FTP information. How are you supposed to make the back-up if I've already changed my whole
site/domain's server, which means my OLD FTP will be void? I'm not sure I'm making much sense, but wouldn't it be easier for one of you to log
into my account now, make the back-up and then when I get the new server up, go and restore it there?

If you intend to finish your old host before setting up your new, you will need to shutdown your existing forum so that no more members/threads/posts
can be added. This prevents your new server from missing the last few posts etc.
Once you are ready to move, you can u2u me and I will perform a full DB backup and download all forum files to my computer. I will then upload them to
your new server once ready.
Generally, we prefer to transfer from one to the other so that you can check everything is working before deleting the old one.

your old ftp info is your current site.
the new ftp info is for where the site is goinh.

I assume you are transferring your domain name to the new server? which will result in your OLD FTP not working.
Although you won't be able to connect to the old server FTP via the domain name, you can still connect via the IP address of the server.

The old server IP address is 70.85.45.68 but it looks like it's shut off now because I was refused access when I tried to log in via ftp.

Either way it's unreachable right now which makes it difficult to get the database or the files. When connectivity to it is restored we'll get the
transfer done. But you should go ahead and put in the transfer request (not upgrade request) first so that we have all the information on hand.

Well in order for a transfer to be done successfully we need the old information where your site is now so that all the data and files can be backed
up. And we need the new information so that we know where to transfer the board to.
