[Hack In Progress] Custom Field Manager

It would be awesome if you could manage, add, and delete custom fields from the admin panel.

I'm currently working on this modification. Well, not right now but it is one of many in development by me. The hack will allow you to specifiy your own cusotm fields/dropdowns/textareas. You can specify the properties, name, size and lots of other characteristics of the field. So far I've wrote the code to process the field from information in a database, and also the generated query line. I need to put these in to context, make it add them to the memcp and member_profile templates and create an administrator area where you can add fields. Estimated completion date.. 2-3 weeks as I'm busy with other projects.

That is exactly why I am developing it. It will certainly decrease the number of custom field hack requests we get. Sorry the estimated completion time is so long, but I have a big XMBG dev project ongoing and another hack which is around 80% complete. =P

Well, what I meant was I could wait for any anount of time for this hack to be developed...

Also another idea for a feature...maybe it could include the options to either display the data inputed into the field in posts and profiles, only in posts, or only in profiles.

I have lots of ideas on the cards, and thankyou for your suggestion. I will indeed take it on board. Like i said alot of this hack is done, it just needs to be put into context and dressed up.

I will follow up on something. may not be exactly like jaime's idea but will grant you the ability to use your own text dropdowns. I had thought of this a month ago for improving the marital status hack I have. no set eta but will play wthis week and next. will report back on progress.
