Lurkers and Spooks
This is to all the xmbg members that have crossed over to xmbs as a result of the recent upheaval caused by the inappropriate actions of several
former staff members and regular members.
Posting is down over 50% now because of these recent events but yet it remains about the same number of visitors everyday. I see, or hear about, or
alerted to all the trash talking that's still going on over there. I put an end to it several days ago and deleted the offending posts. All the
troublemakers have been banned, ip banned, some now banned at the server level, and suspended. So I don't see what they're purpose is in coming here
everyday, several times a day. The only obvious reason is to cause trouble but they can't because the suspended ones can't see any content
whatsoever. I have seen remarks on xmbs like, "Goes to spy on xmbg now". And poor James is still whining about it and making smartass comments to
Area51mafia about still having installer status here. I've seen other former staff come here scouring our hack requests for ideas and they magically
turn up on xmbs a short while later. This was done before I suspended this former staff member. I hadn't done this yet because he didn't participate
in the flamefests but lurking and scouring hack ideas warranted me to do so. Unlike being banned if I suspend a member's account they can't see any
content whatsoever. I have also added extra measures so that guests can't see any content either. Because of the request system being tied in with
paypal I can't use the feature in the admin panel to prevent guest viewing as it prevents the paypal bot from accessing the site to process payment
confirmations for requests. So I had to come up with something to prevent this scavenging and to keep the content of this site private to the members
that pay when we get the subscriptions in place.
And it's sad that I've seen members on here and notice them on a particular thread and when they leave the site I follow them and they go straight
to xmbs where shortly there will be something about the thread I saw them on. And needless to say this is very disappointing to see these kinds of
actions from people who I/xmbg have helped out, and some very extensively. So, if you're not going to help xmbg recover from this ordeal then I, and
the people who have been paying for installations and donating, don't really want you here. If you want to help out then you're more than welcome to
do so and it will be greatly appreciated. But if your intent is to be disruptive or just curiosity seekers and you have no intention in being a part
of the community then we kindly invite you to leave and go play elsewhere.
Also, at that point when the subscriptions are in place I will probably dump the members table and start over as each member that wants to join will
need to re-register. This will eliminate the above problems totally. They are most likely ones that wouldn't pay for the service anyway so I
seriously doubt they will pay to spy or lurk to see what's going on. I will keep a copy of the members table and when people join I can migrate their
old data to their new account.
And because of the fact that my database was literally stolen I urge every member to change their passwords. From the actions I've witnessed lately
and the damage that was done to this site (stolen database, deleted db tables, deleted files and some other little surprises left behind) I wouldn't
put it past the site owner to use this information maliciously. When the subscriptions are in place then this won't be an issue. Plus I have a
privacy policy and am a certified member of Privacy Affiliates (see below footer). So I just want everyone to protect themselves and change their
passwords.
PLEASE DO NOT U2U ME FOR GENERAL SUPPORT ISSUES!!!
